MASHOBRA - THE QUIET SHIMLA
Mashobra is a
little hamlet located in the Shimla district of Himachal Pradesh. This
undiscovered paradise is a tranquil spot with only an iota of tourists which
makes this an ideal destination for peace seekers. This hidden gem situated in
the embrace of nature, with enchanting mountains, picturesque landscapes and
fresh air is a perfect spot from the commotion of city life. This treasure trove of natural beauty has some
serene attractions to visit:-
1. RESERVE FOREST SANTUARY : One of Asia's largest watersheds, this sanctuary is a haven for nature enthusiasts and wildlife lovers. It’s home to a diverse range of flora and fauna, including oak, pine, cedar trees, and species like the barking deer, leopards, and the Himalayan eagle. A walk through this sanctuary offers a peaceful escape into nature.
2. CRAIGNANO NATURE PARK : Located a few kilometers from Mashobra, Craignano is an idyllic nature park known for its lush green lawns, blooming flowers, and colonial-era architecture. The park also offers adventure activities such as rock climbing and rappelling. It's a perfect spot for picnics and leisurely strolls.
3. MAHASU PEAK : A famous trekking destination which offers some scintillating views of the snow capped mountains. The trek is adventurous and a perfect activity for thrill seekers. At the top, you’ll find the Mahasu Devta Temple, adding a spiritual touch to your journey.
4. FRUIT ORCHADS : Adding to its natural beauty, Mashobra has plethora of fruit orchards. A visit to these orchards during the harvest season allows you to witness the process of apple picking and even taste the fresh, juicy apples. Some orchards also offer guided tours and apple products for sale.
5. SHALI TIBBA : The highest peak of the area, Shali Tibba also offers an exhilarating trek to the adventurous seekers. The top peak allows the trekkers to have a magnificent 360-degree view of the Himalayas. The beauty of this place makes this a trekker’s paradise.
6. CARIGNANO : A charming Italian villa, Carignano is situated amidst dense pine forests. This historical building adds a touch of old-world charm to Mashobra and is perfect for photography enthusiasts. The surrounding area is ideal for short hikes and nature walks.

The best time to visit this wonder of nature is in the summer season that is from April to June because the weather is pleasant with clear skies and away from the scorching heat of the plains.
